Launching our newest LDC Area - Swindon & the Ridgeway. In these early days please support our new Area Organiser Kevin Nichols at Helen Brownings Royal Oak - details below.
The Ridgeway National Trail passes through a remote part of southern central England. From its start in the World Heritage Site of Avebury, it follows a ridge of chalk hills in a north-easterly direction for 87 miles (139 Km) to reach Ivinghoe Beacon lying to the northwest of London. Popularly known as ‘Britain’s oldest road’, The Ridgeway still follows the same route over the high ground used since prehistoric times by travellers, herdsmen and soldiers. Today it is popular with walkers, runners, cyclists, horse riders and of course now Lotus drivers.
Location:
Helen Brownings Royal Oak, Cues Lane, Bishopstone, Swindon, SN6 8PP - what3words. The meetings are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month at 09:00.
