Our run out on the first Sunday in December started at the Coach and Horses pub where we enjoyed bacon sandwiches and hot drinks. The car park was full of festively decorated cars, which were all brilliantly done. A host of Christmas Jumpers and hats were worn by all, adding to the festive cheer. Once the judging of the cars was done by Liam the landlord, we headed off in convoy to Athelhampton House. We had arranged to park the cars in front of the house, which made a spectacular back drop for photos. We enjoyed a lovely lunch, followed by a meander around the seasonally decorated rooms. Thank you to everyone for all the efforts made on the day.
Christmas lunch at the Bartley Lodge was another festive fun filled event. Starting with pre-dinner drinks, giving everyone a chance to catch up and chat. The prizes for the best Christmas outfits and best decorated cars were awarded before lunch. Malcolm and Barbara won the best Christmas outfit competition and for those of you who saw them at the pub, you would have to agree, they were truly spectacular jumpers. The best car competition was won by Mick and Wendy, for their present filled Lotus Sleigh, 2nd Prize to Ed and Lena for their Little Red Robin and third prize to Ian and Annie for their sparkly tinsel filled car.
After lunch the free present raffle was held, followed by the first part of our musical entertainment for the day. The ‘Lotus Lovelies plus Ed’, performed Christmas classics for us to enjoy, with everyone joining in.
Santa Ian and his little Fairy Carol handed out the Elves and Santa Lucky dip presents, followed by the marking of the table quizzes. A box of chocolates was shared with the winning table.
The second part of our musical entertainment followed, with ‘Elf-vis and the Swinging Sisters of Santa’ performing four rocking songs, with a chance for everyone to Rock around the room, or in their chairs if they preferred.
Without your help during the year, these events would not be possible, so we thank everyone who purchased a calendar, or who contributed to a raffle. Our thanks also to Ed, Lena and Jacki for their brilliant entertainments and to Kelly for helping with the equipment set up and the marking of the quizzes.
