The annual Club Lotus May trackday at Castle Combe is always one of our most enjoyable events of the year. It’s a great Club Lotus day out as well as a very good value and safe Lotus-only trackday. This year it takes place on 28th May.

Those of you who came to Castle Combe last year enjoyed a fantastic day with plenty of track time. The paddock is solely for our use on Saturday so allows us plenty of space for car displays, trade stands and the free club member’s autojumble. Come along to drive, learn, watch, chat, meet friends and have a great day out with lots of Lotus cars and enthusiasts.

The date for this years introduction to trackdays and sprinting event is Thursday 19th of May. This is a brilliant chance for anyone with little or no experience of sprinting or trackdays. The controlled environment will allow you to learn to push yourself and your car as far as you like with no other cars on circuit at the same time to worry about.

There are also plenty of chances to get in the passenger seat with more experienced drivers.

The entry form and details of this event will be available to download soon. This event is run by the clubs competition secretary, Ian Francis, and is highly recommended.

Ragley Hall Classic Car Show

Written by , Posted in 2016 Events

RagleyHallClassic

Sunday 29 May 2016

For the past seventeen years the Ragley Hall Classic Car Show has been one of the most popular events on the Lotus Drivers Club calendar. In the last few years we have had over 60 Lotus cars on display, and once again we are hoping to beat this record!

Lots of Car Clubs put on displays and there are usually 100’s of individual entries with all forms of transport represented. There are autojumble and trade stands and children’s attractions.

Apart from members and enthusiasts displaying their cars, the Ragley Hall Classic Car Show is very much a social event. For those of you who have not been to this event there is something of interest for all the family. Ragley Hall is the family home of Lord Hertford and is set in 400 acres of parkland, woodland and gardens.

The Hall is surrounded by 27 acres of gardens designed by Capability Brown where peacocks freely roam and there is a lovely Tea Room overlooking the Rose Garden, while the parkland contains the exciting Children’s Adventure Wood, 3-D Maze, a lovely old Carriage Collection, a Woodland Walk and a Lakeside Picnic Area. The Hall itself houses a fabulous collection of treasures from a bygone age, and you will see the James Gibb’s elegant Baroque plasterwork and Graham Rust’s stunning mural “Temptation”.

The Entry Fee for this year is £3.50 per exhibit which includes admission for the driver, one adult and up to two children under 16 years of age – all other occupants must pay the Show Admission Price. You will be issued with a Free Admission Pass which is valid until 10.30 am on each day – vehicles arriving after that time will be charged the normal entrance fee. Members wishing to display their cars must let us have their entry fee and vehicle details by 1 May 2016.

Bruntingthorpe Charity Rides

Written by , Posted in 2016 Events

Saturday 6 August 2016

The date for the ASDA charity event called “On Your Marks” is Saturday 6th August. The Lotus Drivers Club are once again taking part in this extraordinary charity transport event, with the chance to give members of the public a fast and thrilling ride around a 2 mile circuit. All proceeds go the children’s charities.

Other car clubs which attend this event include the Viper owners club, Corvette owners club, Nissan Skyline club, GT40 owners club, TVR owners club and the Subaru owners club. Amongst other attractions there are fairground rides and the opportunity to drive an ASDA lorry around the circuit.

The fact is, on your marks has got bigger year on year ,and is Bruntingthorpe’s event of the year with 10,000 people or more and most of them are families having the day of there lives’. Some of them fulfilling life long dreams and wishes.

In 2014 the Lotus Drivers Club raised a successive record breaking amount of £3,053 for the nominated charities. That’s over 600 laps of the Bruntingthorpe Aerodrome in members cars!

The clubs total contribution over the last 7 years has now exceeded £13,000 to the nominated charities.

Each year members continually impress the shows organisers by their determination to succeed in raising as much as possible. It seems that each year more and more people get involved and this year was no exception. Although the drivers do a sterling job, the day wouldn’t be able to run without those manning the club gate selling tickets, the efficient pit crew safely getting the passengers in and out of the cars and of course the tea and coffee makers.
