The Midlands Lotus Owners Club once again welcomes Lotus owners to the Derbyshire Peak district for some fun in the summertime. In Lotus’ seventieth year we hope to attract examples of most road going Lotus Cars. We would especially love to see more of the older ‘classic’ models this year and have a new for 2018 Classic Lotus run taking in some of the best and most scenic Peak District roads at a more leisurely pace.
The main event is on Sunday 15 July but with so much to see and do in the beautiful Derbyshire Peaks and Dales we recommend making a weekend of it. On Friday 13 July MLOC host an informal pub meet at the handsome Charles Cotton Hotel in Hartington, near Buxton. Discount room rates are available at the Charles Cotton or there are other hotels, cottages, B&Bs and campsites available in Hartington or nearby. Saturday is a free day to perhaps visit Buxton or Bakewell, enjoy a walk or polish the car! Sunday begins with a choice of early morning runs converging on Hassop Station café, near Bakewell, for breakfast and then the unique to LitP Lotus procession to our 2018 main event venue, Peak Rail’s Rowsley Station.
In previous years we have had 100 Lotus Cars in the procession, proceeding gently along six miles of public road – it really is quite something to see and take part in. At Peak Rail we have display parking, our very high quality catered picnic buffet, the LitP Car Of The Day Competition, children’s competitions, presentation of the Mark Hodgkinson Trophy and the very well supported LitP raffle. If you tire of everything Lotus why not take a trip on the Peak Rail steam train with its beautifully restored carriages?
For more details and to book please go to midlandslotus.co.uk. Please note that participation in the runs and the catered picnic must be booked in advance through the mloc online store.
