Wow, what a great turn out of Lotus cars and crews for our Annual Treasure Hunt at Fort Nelson. 46 Wessex members took part in the hunt and we would like to say a big thank you to everyone who came along despite the weather not being as good as we would have liked. We would like to welcome new members, Nigel and Annie, Trevor and Sally and Roger and Marina. Over morning coffee John and Sue handed out the clue sheets with 50 cunning mind twisters to solve.
The clues were spread around the exhibition halls of this fantastic museum and included a photo opportunity for all to take part in, in order to gain more points. After a break for lunch, when the 25 pound Howitzer gun was fired, we resumed our hunt until Afternoon Tea and prize giving. John and Sue had arranged a private function room adjacent to the Officer’s Mess, which is not normally open to the public for our cream tea.
After tea the clue sheets were marked with the usual amount of heckling, taken in good spirit. A tie break situation arose, with three top scorers going head to head to be the overall winners. The tie break question was ‘Who could recall how many items and what were they in the soldiers Kit Roll’, that was displayed on a bed in the dormitory.
Kelly and James were overall winners who take home the trophy for one year (6 months each unless they want to live together) with Roger and Marina coming 2nd, John and Paula 3rd and Peter and Clare 4th. The winner of the photo competition went to Ian for his rendition of a Volunteer Lotus driving soldier!
Our thanks go to Club Lotus for the donation of all the prizes and Finally another really big thank you to John and Sue Bewsey for organising such a special day.
