A few words about Mike Stripe, former LDC Chairman, 1952 to 2016
Mike stripe was an inspirational, witty, intelligent and knowledgeable man, particularly about the Lotus marque, who, as our Chairman, brought the Lotus Drivers Club back from the brink of extinction. He turned the club around and into the successful phenomenon it is today.
I was lucky enough to work with Mike for many years on the LDC committee as his Competitions Secretary and have often said that he was a very tough act to follow as chairman. As a retired Major from the army, his leadership skills were second to none. His knowledge of all things Lotus, and his contacts with the Hethel factory and the people who have worked for or with Lotus over the years was truly enviable. He forged solid relationships with Clive Chapman at Classic Team Lotus, Club Lotus, The Historic Lotus Register and other Lotus organisations which continue to help the club today immeasurably with prestige and information.
It was very sad to see Mike go before his time but I consider myself extremely fortunate and privileged to have known him. His memory lives on through this event and its future incarnations. For your part, I simply urge you to enjoy the annual Mike stripe Memorial Event.
