Curborough Introduction to Sprinting

Are you interested in finding the limits of your Lotus on track, or would you like to give it a go for the first time?

The Lotus Drivers Club Introduction to Sprinting event at Curborough Sprint Course is taking place on Thursday 7 July 2022. The controlled environment will allow you to develop your driving skills and to push your car as far as you like with no other cars on the circuit. The day is split into two-track sessions: 10:00-13:00 and 14:00-17:00 with options to book for both sessions (full day) or just the morning or afternoon session (limited availability).

Curborough Sprint Course, with its fast straight and flowing corners, is located near Lichfield in Staffordshire and was formerly a small airfield as part of RAF Lichfield. After the War and thanks to the tireless efforts of an army of enthusiasts, the creation of the sprint course was completed and the inaugural sprint meeting took place in June 1963. Today Curborough Sprint Course is Britain’s premier motorsport venue for speed sprinting against the clock. It has also been awarded the accolade of being a cycling centre of excellence. All types of cars, from saloons to single-seaters, compete here at regular events.

Starting from as little as £65, the single session entry fee includes breakfast or lunch, tea/coffee and soft drinks. Book for the full day and enjoy both track sessions along with breakfast and lunch refreshments (vegetarian option available) along with tea/coffee.

Thruxton Skid Pan

Thruxton Skid Pan

Thruxton Skid Pan

Returning in 2022 on Saturday 16 July is our popular Skid Pan day at the Thruxton race circuit.

Thruxton’s newly built skid pan is a wetted low grip facility that provides you with a safe and controlled environment to practice your sleek skills with very little wear and tear on the tyres or the car itself. Not only is this experience great fun, but more importantly a hugely worthwhile investment in your own and your passengers’ safety.

Be it the first time you’ve controlled a skid, tried steering out of danger, or sensing and recovering an unexpected aquaplane, skid pans are used to teach car control skills that you can only become proficient in from experience and practice. Thruxton’s experienced instructors and staff will be on hand to help you get the most from your time, be it in trying something that you’ve never had the chance to try, or in perfecting prolonged control of under and oversteer on the 45m diameter circle. An instructor will be outside giving detailed advice, instruction and encouragement via a two-way radio.

Available from £44, each session is 1 hour long, with a maximum of 6 vehicles per session to minimise waiting and maximise time spent looking through the side windows as you explore the limits of your Lotus. Spaces are limited so book early to avoid disappointment.

Thank you to LDC member Michael Guy for capturing these photos from our event in 2021.
