Wye Valley Driving Adventure

Are you looking forward to 2021, we certainly are! We’re pleased to announce that the Lotus Drivers Club will be returning to the idyllic Wye Valley and Forest of Dean for a weekend driving adventure.

Taking place over the Bank Holiday weekend from Saturday 3 – Monday 5 April 2021, the weekend will provide an opportunity for members to discover the area whilst relaxing in the evening at a historic, unmissable hotel. The Club had intended to attend the Coleford Carnival of Transport which takes place on the streets of Coleford in the heart of the beautiful Forest of Dean on Easter Monday but unfortunatly the organisers have had to take the difficult decision to postpone this years show. In its place the Club will be organising an extra day of exploration and driving for members on Easter Monday.

If you haven’t had the good fortune to experience one of the clubs popular Driving Adventures, we can assure you that you won’t be disappointed. They provide a driving experience where like-minded enthusiasts can drive their cars through beautiful scenery on some of the best driving roads enjoying great company along the way. Catch up with your new friends every evening in great hotels to dine and talk about your adventures that day and of course your pride and joy.

Limited accommodation has been organised and will be available to members. We can recommend alternative accommodation if needed. To confirm your place and to help us manage numbers please click on the link to confirm your registration for the event. The club charges £5 per person and covers the administration work involved in planning and running the weekend which is undertaken by our willing club volunteers. Portmeirion

Portmeirion

Portmeirion

Lotus Drivers Club members are invited to join our friends at the International 7 Network (I7N) for their visit to Portmeirion on the Welsh coast on the 27th – 30th June 2021 for what has become our annual homage to the association between the Lotus 7 from the cult TV series The Prisoner and the village.

It was a Series 2 Lotus Seven that was driven by Patrick McGoohan in the opening titles of the television series however in the final episode, “Fall Out”, it was replaced by a series 3 disguised as the original, as it had been sold during the filming. Graham Nearn drove the car to the set for the final episode to be shot and found himself recruited as an extra. He can be seen dusting off the car and posting the keys through McGoohan’s letter box, prior to the hero’s arrival.

We stay in the village for 2/3 days – the accommodation ranges from the main hotel to the castle or houses in the village – the choice is yours. Every room is different and unique in its décor and location. Each evening we enjoy fine dining in a private room either at the hotel or castle.

During the day there are plenty of choices of activities in the local area as well as spending time in the village and gardens.

We will also have the opportunity to put on a street parade (video clips from 2017 and 2018) on the Tuesday morning and after the village closes for day visitors you can take your car to be photographed in some of the iconic spots in the village.

The event’s organiser for the village said of our first visit: “Light, agile and super cool, it was a delight seeing so many of these iconic cars making their way through such a beautiful location.”

The maximum number of people we can take is 60 people and we have 30 rooms allocated to us.

Email Christine at the I7N for details of rooms and a map of the village. It’s a very popular event with 65% repeat bookings so please don’t delay to reserve your place.
