Sunday 14th January 2018 – New Year Event – La Maison de Lotus – “Souper” Day

Due to the Burley Manor being closed on the 1st Sunday of 2018, we have had to book the Cream Tea for the following Sunday. The day will start as is traditional at Ian and Julia’s house for a warming bowl (or two) of a choice of homemade soups and fresh crusty bread, (that Ian will have purchased not baked in the morning). As last year was such a roaring success, after our early “Souper” lunch there will be a run to Burley in the New Forest for a Traditional Cream Tea, at the Burley Lodge Hotel.

Those of you who went last year will remember, the Cream Tea was served on huge platters including Scones with Cream and Jam, a range of Sandwiches and other cakes. We have also arranged for exclusive use of the Green Drawing Room.

The cost for the Cream Tea remains the same as last year at £12.00 per head. There will be more information in the next newsletter.

Thanks to everyone who has helped continue the walks which James started some 8 years ago now. The Lymington Lope in October was made special by Jane and Chris’s hospitality and by Guy and Lesley arriving by boat!

2018 starts with January’s walk on Sunday 21st, Hengistbury Head – Pebbles and Pavement. We’ll meet at the café in the car park at Broadway, BH6 4EN at 10.30am for a 10.45am departure. There are toilets and a good café at the end of the car park. We’ll walk to the end of the head along the beach and then back on the concrete pathway alongside the marshes and past the visitor centre.

You can have an inexpensive meal at the café or we can drive to a Christchurch pub (this to be confirmed later). Please let Jane know if you’ll wish to eat at the pub

There is a charge for the car park but in the winter this is only £3.00 for 24 hours.
